# Get a check deposit by id

> Returns one check deposit, in the same shape as List check deposits. This is what to fetch when a `check_deposit.*` webhook arrives: the event carries only the deposit's `id`, and this response is its current state.

A deposit that isn't your organization's is a `404`. When the team member the API key belongs to can't see Nickel Banking deposits, or your organization has no active Nickel Banking account, the response is a `403` that says which.

  title: Nickel API
  description: >-
This is the specification for the Nickel Rest API. The API lets you
programmatically interact with the Nickel server. It uses resource oriented
URLs, accepts and returns JSON encoded payloads and uses standard HTTP
response codes. It is not a direct API to move money, but instead allows you
to interact with Nickel as you would on a web interface.
